Yum I am so making this
Mexican style duck eggs.
One of my favourite quick suppers. Tomatoes, chilli, onion and a good slug of olive oil heated to a thick sauce. Make a well in the sauce and crack as many eggs as you fancy into them. I used duck eggs as I had them and they add more favour and creaminess to the dish. Season with salt, pepper, basil and a good grating of your favourite cheese. Serve with rocket and a good wedge of sourdough to mop up the remaining sauce. Deliciosa!
Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a rainy Sunday than with my one of my oldest and bestest friends at the http://www.trattoriasapori.co.uk/ my new local little coffee shop.
So on Sunday I found myself with my oldest and prettiest, craving coffee cake and a latte.
I was in her neck of the woods and one of my favourite parts of London for shopping, and of course eating, so we went to a lovely cafe/trattoria round the corner.
Aesthetically, it’s lovely. A really pleasing mix of current restaurant interior with a traditional twist. The pale olive colourings and heavy wood were cosy and welcomed.
However the coffee cake, at least that’s what the waitress said it was, didn’t taste of coffee in the slightest and was dry and insipid. The coffee icing tasted only of butter and if we closed our eyes it tasted more like we were eating sweetened bread and spread than cake.
On the plus side, the staff are friendly and the waitress gave us an especially large slice as we were sharing. They only serve high quality Italian coffee and the only thing I like more than the smell of freshly brewed coffee is the taste of it. The latte did not disappoint.
The savoury food on offer, which is suitable for any lunch or casual dinner, looked agreeable and good value.
They have a fabulous deal on a Monday where they serve up an old movie with a pizza and a drink for a tenner which we will be trying next time. Watch this space.Trattoria Sapori, Stoke Newington
